Our student body is split across 4 houses. House loyalty is a core aspect of a DAIS student. Despite having joined in the 8th grade, I was appointed Vice Captain in the 9th grade and later in the 11th, Captain of the Panther House. It was a moment of great pride and honour for me to be selected amongst so many students to lead the 250 students in Panthers.

I have woken up at 6 am to reach early for sporting events, spent hours at others’ houses getting students to practice their lines for Dramatics, drafted countless WhatsApp messages to coordinate Swim Gala, and fiercely defended my house’s interests at other inter-house competitions!

I also led my team of 10 Panther House Council members to communicate with participants and parents and keep the students motivated to constantly do more for the Panthers.

It was an exhilarating experience that had me filled with pride every time I put on my blue badge!

Over the 2023-24 academic year, I led a team of 40 students to produce the school’s annual yearbook, INSIGNIA. It was a mammoth task co-ordinating with 1,000+ students and 200+ teachers from across the school, not to mention the school administration.

Our work included going to teachers in different classrooms to get content, edit articles written by students, choose the best pictures to accompany them and organise everything into a coherent structure. I delegated and reviewed work done by the rest of the INSIGNIA team, ensuring they met the high standards we were aiming for.

All in all, the experience made me fall in love with my school all over again as I saw diversity in thought, yet unity in the student body. Chronicling these memories filled me with a sense of pride and love for a place that had given me so much.

Here is the final copy of the INSIGNIA 2023-24.
